Water Purifacation Tabs Are Out of Stock For Four Months

This bit of information got me curious and I began doing research and found it to be true, however, there are still some being sold on amazon **until their existing inventory is gone**.  Since the manufacturers are **back ordered**, once they run out they can't re-stock for another four months.  Major companies such as REI, are out of WPT.   In case you are unfamiliar with water purification tablets they are a chemical put in unclean water to kill just about everything in it and they don't taste as yucky as iodine tablets.

Katadyn has the most popular tablets and is one of my favorite companies so APN has contacted them about this issue as well.  In doing so, we found out that they are government contractors so all purchase orders will go to them first.  Mike Porenta, APN's Marketing staff and store specialist, contacted Katadyn's media relations department and was told it would be a 'while' before their tabs were back on the market.

This bit of information got me curious and I began doing research and found it to be true, however, there are still some being sold on amazon.  Just know that once they run out they can't re-up for another four months.  As always, be sure to read the fine print on any such tabs you buy online.  Also read the reviews.  I found several products that said, "No iodine taste,"  but after reading reviews and ingredients I found the product to have iodine in it.

The thought occurred to me that if these companies are out of supply for the next four months then what are the chances it could be longer?  Or that they won't be bought up by our military because we have been out for months already?  So where does this leave those of us who are buying these for our storage?  If you can handle the taste of iodine  then you can still purchase iodine tablets or products with iodine in them.  If you can't stand the taste or are allergic to iodine, then another option is called Aqua-tabs.
